Clownatec was founded in 1995, since then, we’ve put on hundreds of shows every year. We’ve truly perfected the art of AMAZING COMMUNITY EVENTS. We’d like to share our knowledge and help YOU. Let’s make your planning SIMPLE and your event SENSATIONAL!

 

How much do you charge? +

We are convinced that we have enough experience, talent, and dedication to please literally everyone! That’s why we offer different types of services, each with a specific price. The best way to get the info is to fill out this small form and tell us what YOU are looking for:

How far in advance should I book? +

We want to make sure we can accommodate your exact request, in order to make sure you get the time you want, with the show you want, book one month in advance.  The sooner you book, the better your chances of getting the perfect date and time!  Do, check our availability: we will do everything we can to accommodate last minute booking requests as well.

What are your preferred methods of payment? +

We just want everything to be really, really easy for you! Payment by cheque, or cash are both fine, you can send over your payment by mail before hand, or pay on the day of the event… Whatever is convenient! We’ll send over an email receipt.

If you prefer, you can also transfer your payment electronically: let us know and we'll make the necessary arrangements!

Does Clownatec go out of town? +

Our clowns do love to travel, they will be happy to visit you anywhere. You might simply need to plan for additional travel costs, or maybe parking if they spaces near by aren’t free (after all, we do carry around lots of fun stuff!)

How much time do you need to prepare? +

We were BORN READY! But we do need a little bit of time to get ready! We always travel with a sound system, background stage and a suitcase full of surprises and magic! All we need from you is a small table, or even a chair, and access to electricity. Before the show, it takes between 45 and 60 minutes to get ready, and after, between 30 to 45 minutes to gather our things.

How long is the show? +

The length of the presentation depends on the type of show you’ve selected. Through the years we’ve tried different formulas, and have found 45 min allows us to perform a wide variety of tricks, all the while, maintaining everyone’s attention. We also like to reserve some time at the end of the show (5 to 10 minutes) to mingle with the kids and allow them to pet our magic bunny, which appears during our last trick.

Because of their particularly rich content, Educational Shows are the longest, running 60 minutes long. The Holiday themed, and Just for Fun shows, on the other hand are 45 minutes long.

How about an outdoors show? +

We’ll risk it if you will! But we have to modify our presentation a little… For safety reasons, we can’t risk setting up our background stage decor because the wind could knock it over. Because of the wind we also have to forego some of our tricks (with scarves or cards)…

If you choose to have your show outside, make sure there is a way we can set-up inside on the day of the event in case Mother Nature does not cooperate. (Think of the sun and heat, the gusts of wind, or even the short shower clouds: if we can’t perform, we still need to charge you the full booking cost). The last thing we want is to cancel an event: have a plan B, so that we can put on the amazing show we planed for you and your guests!

How many kids can attend? +

On our end, there’s no need to limit the number of participants. We can perform for a small class or a crowded auditorium. This said, because the requirements are different, depending on the amount of spectators, our prices do vary. We have three show categories: Mini (50 kids or less), Basic (51 to 200 kids), and Maxi (201 kids to 400) and Super maxi (401 kids and more).

How much space do you need? +

We’ll take what we can get, we can perform pretty much anywhere! The smallest space we can use would be 6 ft. long by 6 ft. wide. If you would like us to install our entire background, to create the set and the décor, we do need a little more: 12 ft. by 10 ft., with a 10 ft. overhead clearance.

As for seating the kids, don’t worry, they’ll be perfectly happy, right up-close, sitting on the floor so they can see the magic happen!

Who’s your target audience? +

All children between 3 and 12 enjoy our shows, except our educationnal show is 5 to 12 years old! Our colourful clowns have a wide variety of wonderful magic tricks and illusions and every one of them is really very funny! It’s nice when we can separate age groups because we get to adapt our comedy and humour to the specific audience, referring better to their current experiences, but truly, we’ll have fun with whoever’s there… And they’ll have fun with US!!!

Can the kids eat during the show? +

Our shows are very DYNAMIC and HIGHLY INTERACTIVE! At any moment during our show, kids could be asked to participate in the magic, so it’s truly best for them to focus all of their attention on our clown and be ready to pitch-in! That way, you can also avoid spilt snacks and drinks during the performance… Which is obviously a win-win situation!!!

Will the instructor arrive exactly on time? +

We are well aware of the importance of families' schedules. The Clownatec instructors always arrive a few minutes ahead, to greet the kids. However, they will only begin the program exactly at the set time to make sure nobody is left out.

Do the kids need to bring their own material? +

We want to help the kids discover a new passion! To do so, access to materials should be easy for them, so we take care of it all! We’ll bring the materials to them, and in some cases we’ll even give them some extra for home!

How long are the workshops? +

Depends on you! We've designed a variety of packages to work around your schedule. The more time you book, the more activities we'll plan for. No matter how long or short our program, our goal is to spark interest in circus arts and to spend a great time laughing and having fun together.

Face painting

Do you need to prepare; what materials do you need? +

Prepare??? We were BORN READY! The Clownatec clowns always arrive a few minutes ahead to make sure everything is there. If you can simply reserve for us a small table and two chairs (one for our artist and one for a child) we'll be all set to go! If your event is outside, you should know we need to work in a shaded area and need access to water

How many face paintings can we expect, in an hour? +

Our first goal is for the kids to have fun, speed isn’t our very first priority but our face painting artists really are talented professionals, they can beautifully decorate the kids in just a few minutes. Full-face paintings take only 2 to 3 minutes and small art on the hands or cheeks takes 4 to 5 minutes. On average, you can expect each face painting clown to see between 15 to 20 kids in an hour.

Are the face painting artists costumed? +

Yes. They are always very colorful and also wear some of their own art! That way they are well recognizable!

How do we wash-off the make-up? +

It comes off easily with soapy water!

What designs can your face painting clowns offer? +

It depends on the artist, most offer a range of wild animals, superheroes and princesses but they each have their expertise and specialty!

Should we watch out for allergic reactions? +

We only use hypoallergenic products, so reactions are unlikely. If someone tends to have sensitivities, we can always test the make-up on the wrist before going forward, to make sure everyone is well taken care of!

How old should the kids be for face painting? +

No age in particular, really. Anyone’s a candidate, from babies to adults! We’ll simply adapt the detail and the time of the painting to how fidgety our client! Obviously, younger children tend to move around a little more, so we simply try to be quick…

Balloons

Do you need to prepare? +

Prepare??? We were BORN READY! The Clownatec clowns are always ready to perform, as soon as they arrive. You choose when the fun begins! Our clown will need a safe place to store the balloon suitcase; please plan ahead.

How old should the kids be for this activity? +

We’ll give out balloons to kids around 2 years old and over. However, because the balloons can be a choking hazard, we ask that the toddlers (2 and 3 years old) be supervised with these inflatable toys.

Does the clown need some type of stage? +

NO! We don’t! We’ll be glad to walk around and mingle. We provide a wonderful colourful service and we want everyone to know we’re there! Unless you require we stay put, we’ll go around and try to meet everybody.

How many balloons can we expect in an hour? +

Entertainment and fun is always our first goal… We want to go beyond “producing” a toy and moving on. We want everyone to have a good time with us first, and then, leave with a souvenir. When we make a balloon sculpture, we goof around, make jokes, and like to play a little with our new creation…

This said, we will still make around 40 to 50 balloons per hour. Off hand, we know between 50 to 100 shapes, but we are good and improv. and are generally able to create whatever you can dream-up!

How long does a balloon sculpture last? +

They’re magical! So if you keep them away form sharp objects and out of the sun for extra durability, and they can maintain their shape about 2 weeks!

Walk-around magic

Do you need to prepare? +

Prepare??? We were BORN READY! The Clownatec clowns are always ready to perform, as soon as they arrive. You choose when the fun begins! Our magician will need a safe place to store the magic suitcase; please plan ahead.

Who’s this type of show for? +

We LOVE to perform a wide variety of magic tricks so EVERYONE is entertained. We like to adapt to the age and type of audience present at your event. We always have the perfect trick up our sleeve: magical scarves and diapering rainbow balls for the kids, and dazzling illusions and disappearing cards for the adults… We walk through the crowd and perform, here and there, for small groups of 4 or 5 people at a time.

Does the clown need some type of stage? +

Quite the opposite actually! During this activity, what we love the most is getting to meet, and dazzle everyone, UP CLOSE! Spending between 2 to 4 minutes for each person, we try to reach as many guests as possible presenting our surprising, funny and amazing tricks and illusions. We move through the crowd and entertain as many people as possible, going from one small group to the other.

Walk-around juggling

Do you need to prepare? +

Prepare??? We were BORN READY! The Clownatec clowns are always ready to perform, as soon as they arrive. You choose when the fun begins! Our juggling clown will need a safe place to store the magic suitcase; please plan ahead.

Does the clown need some type of stage? +

Nope! Unless you ask the clown to remain in one area, he will cover as much grounds as possible and show-off his talents as much as possible!

Who’s this type of show for? +

Our jugglers never get the cold shoulder from anyone: EVERYONE is always amazed at what Clownatec’s talented jugglers can pull off! They vary their equipment according to the type of audience they expect. Big and small, young and old, all of the guests will be astounded by this sensational presentation!

What material is used for juggling? +

Sometimes it seems Clownatec’s juggling clown can do it all! From the classic pins, balls and scarves, to the unexpected tennis racquet and cigar boxes… But whatever he throws around, he’ll bring his own!

Stilt walkers

How much space does the clown need? +

Our acrobats need about 6ft. by 6ft. of space to move around. But, with the cool Clownatec stilts, our clowns can jump around, up to 2 and 3 feet high!!! So we generally recommend stilt walking for the outdoors, or inside a big gymnasium… That way, we can show off!

How do your stilt walkers entertain the crowd? +

Every clown has their own personality, but they all make it their mission to entertain the guests… You know, by clowning around! Jokes and gags and surprises… We use a special type of stilts which allows our clowns to jump higher than basket ball pros… It always makes for good fun and games! (We also have a specialized Stilt walking juggler you can request!)

Is it only for outside? +

If you want to see EVERYTHING our stilt walkers can do, it’s ideal to be outside, exept during the winter months where it’s unsafe. We are always ready to perform inside, we simply limit our gymnastics accordingly!

How much prep time is required? +

The clowns need between 5 and 10 minutes, but that’s not included in your animation time. The Clownatec stilt walkers always arrive 10 minutes in advance to prepare, and put on their gear.

Giant tricycle

What’s a giant tricycle? +

It’s a hand-made unique creation!!! Exactly what it’s called: giant 6 feet tall colourfull tricycle! It’s even designed so that a child can ride along!!!

Is it only for outside? +

Well, it’s ENORMOUS! So it’s almost only used outside. But we can use it in shopping malls, or big gymnasiums.

How can you entertain a crowd? +

Well it’s really, very high and very impressive, the mere sight of our wonderful giant tricycle astonishes and amazes! Very colourful AND very loud, it always sparks curiosity! Don’t forget: a clown rides it… Always joking around and surprising your guests, our Clownatec clown will invite the kids to climb on for the ride of a lifetime!

Do you need to prepare? +

Set-up takes between 5 and 10 minutes, but that’s not included in your animation time. The Clownatec clowns always arrive 10 minutes before the start of the event to put together the tricycle. It’s really much too big to transport in one piece.
